You MUST be able to drive and have access to your own car on a full-time basis. This is an essential requirement of the role, with no exceptions.
Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced SEMH Tutor to support children and young people who may struggle to access a traditional school environment due to social, emotional and mental health needs.
This is not a traditional tutoring role. The young people you will be supporting may have challenging behaviour, low engagement, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, poor attendance or previous negative experiences of education. Building trust and establishing positive relationships will be just as important as delivering academic work.
We are looking for someone who is patient, consistent, resilient and nurturing, but who can also maintain appropriate boundaries and expectations. You will need to be comfortable adapting your approach when a session doesn't go to plan and understand that progress may not always be immediate.
The Role
- Providing 1:1 and small-group tutoring to pupils with SEMH needs
- Travelling to different locations to deliver tutoring, where required
- Supporting pupils to re-engage with education
- Delivering engaging and appropriately differentiated learning
- Building positive and trusting relationships
- Supporting emotional regulation and confidence
- Adapting sessions around the individual pupil's needs
- Working alongside schools, families and other professionals where appropriate
- Supporting pupils to develop both academically and personally
What We're Looking For
- Full UK driving licence - ESSENTIAL
- Access to your own car on a full-time basis - ESSENTIAL
- Previous experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour or vulnerable young people
- Teaching, tutoring, youth work, care or education experience would be beneficial

- Someone who can maintain boundaries while remaining approachable
- The ability to work independently and adapt to different situations
- A genuine commitment to helping young people re-engage with education
Pay
The role pays £25-£35 per hour. The exact rate offered will depend on experience, availability and the individual school's/organisation's budget.
