SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Are you a patient, caring, and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs? We are seeking a committed SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Leicester, providing tailored support to a pupil with additional needs across KS1 to KS4.

The Role
As a SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a designated pupil, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development throughout the school day. You will collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver personalised support strategies that promote engagement and progress.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
- Assisting the pupil in accessing lessons and completing learning activities.
- Supporting the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behavioural strategies.
- Encouraging the development of communication, independence, and social skills.
- Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.
- Monitoring progress and recording observations to support educational targets.
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies where required.
- Promoting a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience working with children with SEN, either in a school, care, or support setting.
- An understanding of additional needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a wider team.
- A genuine passion for helping children succeed and thrive.
