Salary: L4 £55,747 to L8 £61,534 depending on skills and experience

We are seeking an experienced and driven Assistant Headteacher – Pastoral to play a key role in leading behaviour, attendance, safeguarding and student welfare across our school.

This is an exciting opportunity for an established leader to join a committed senior leadership team and make a meaningful impact on outcomes for students with additional needs.

The Role

You will work closely with the Headteacher to lead the pastoral strategy and day-to-day running of the school, ensuring high standards of behaviour, attendance and safeguarding.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading on attendance, behaviour and pastoral support across the school
  • Acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead and promoting student welfare
  • Supporting the strategic leadership and development of the school
  • Managing and developing staff, including performance and CPD
  • Driving high standards of pupil behaviour, engagement and outcomes
  • Using data to monitor performance and inform improvement strategies
  • Supporting day-to-day leadership and deputising where required

About You

We are looking for a confident and resilient leader who can inspire staff and drive positive change.

You will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven leadership experience within a school setting
  • A strong track record of improving behaviour, attendance and pastoral provision
  • Experience within a SEN/SEMH environment (desirable)
  • Excellent understanding of safeguarding and statutory requirements
