Salary: £100–£102 per day, dependent on experience and qualifications

Teach Now is recruiting a compassionate and resilient SEN Learning Support Assistant – SLD Specialist to join a supportive specialist primary setting in Hertfordshire.

The school supports children aged 4–11 with a range of additional needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autism and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

The role

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant – SLD Specialist, you will:

• Support pupils with individual learning and EHCP targets.
• Provide 1:1, small-group and classroom support.
• Use visual and alternative communication strategies where required.
• Support sensory activities, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Encourage independence, social interaction and everyday life skills.
• Help pupils access structured learning and specialist activities.
• Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals.
• Provide personal care, feeding or toileting support where required, always maintaining dignity and respect.

About you

The ideal candidate will:

• Have experience supporting children with SLD, SEN, autism or complex additional needs where possible.
• Be patient, calm, caring and emotionally resilient.
• Be able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Understand the importance of consistency, routine and clear boundaries.
• Be flexible and able to adapt your approach to individual needs.
• Be comfortable supporting personal care where required.
• Be reliable, proactive and committed to safeguarding.

Applications are also welcomed from Teaching Assistants, Support Workers, Care Assistants and Nursery Practitioners with relevant transferable experience and a genuine interest in specialist education.
