Support Young People Through Compassionate, Relationship-Based Mentoring

We're looking for a dedicated SEN Trauma-Informed Mentor to support children and young people across the BCP area through personalised 1:1 mentoring.

Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll support learners who may have experienced significant barriers to education and require a consistent, trusted adult to help them build confidence, resilience, and engagement. Many of the young people we work with have SEND, EHCPs, anxiety, or social and emotional needs, and benefit from a trauma-informed approach that prioritises safety, trust, and positive relationships.

This role focuses on supporting the whole child, helping them develop confidence, emotional regulation, and a more positive connection with learning.

  • Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including mentoring, teaching, tutoring, learning support, teaching assistant, youth work, or similar roles
  • Experience supporting children and young people with SEND
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and relationship-based support
  • Ability to build trust and maintain positive professional boundaries
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally across the BCP area

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety and school avoidance
  • EHCPs and additional educational needs
  • Experiences of trauma, disrupted education, or adverse childhood experiences

Your support will help learners feel safe, understood, and more able to engage positively with education and everyday life.
