GSL Education London Branch is seeking a dedicated and experienced female SEN TA to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary comprehensive school and sixth form for girls in Tower Hamlets. This long-term opportunity is ideal for a compassionate and proactive SEN TA who is passionate about supporting students with special educational needs and helping them achieve their full potential.

As an SEN TA, you will play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. The successful SEN TA will work closely with teachers and the SEN department to provide personalised support and create a positive learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic SEN TA who enjoys making a real difference to young people’s lives.

Responsibilities of the SEN TA

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEN.
  • Assist students with their academic, social and emotional development.
  • Carry out general Teaching Assistant duties to support classroom learning.
  • Provide intimate care when required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
  • Support students with mobility and physical needs using safe Manual Handling techniques.
  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement support plans.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote student independence.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Monitor and record student progress where necessary.
  • Support students during lessons, break times and other school activities.

Requirements for the SEN TA

  • Previous experience working as an SEN TA or in a similar support role within a school setting.
  • Must hold a valid Manual Handling Certificate.
  • Must be confident in carrying out general Teaching Assistant duties and providing intimate care when required.
  • Experience supporting students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, caring and adaptable approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and student wellbeing.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
