Are you a patient, passionate and proactive SEN TA with a genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people succeed? 

A caring and nurturing Special Needs School in Dowsby, Lincolnshire, is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team on a full-time, long-term ongoing basis from September.

The School provides a safe, supportive and therapeutic learning environment for children and young people. As part of a wider residential provision, the School places strong emphasis on building trusting relationships, promoting emotional wellbeing and helping every pupil develop the confidence and skills needed to achieve their full potential.

The curriculum is carefully tailored to meet individual learning needs, combining academic learning with life skills, communication, emotional development and preparation for adulthood. Learning is personalised, engaging and delivered in a calm, structured environment where every achievement is celebrated.

The School caters for pupils aged 8-18 years with additional needs such as Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and associated behavioural and emotional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow statutory safeguarding guidance in line with KCSIE
  • Help create a nurturing, inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued and supported
  • Assist with implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised learning strategies
  • Provide tailored support to pupils on a 1:1 basis/small groups
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Support pupils with their academic, social and emotional development
  • Encourage independence, confidence and resilience in daily learning
  • Promote positive behaviour through encouragement, consistency and restorative approaches
  • Record and monitor pupil progress/behaviour
  • Completing administrative tasks as required

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or above
  • Has a minimum of 3 months’ experience working with children in an educational or similar setting
  • Has knowledge and understanding of a range of SEND
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Has good Literacy, Numeracy and IT skills
