SEN Teacher - Autism Provision | Basildon

Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance 1

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced SEN Teacher to join a well-established Local Authority-run Autism Support Provision in Basildon from September 2026.

This specialist provision supports a small group of 8 pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). All pupils are verbal and benefit from a structured, nurturing environment that promotes independence, communication and academic progress.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for planning and delivering a tailored curriculum, working within an established autism framework and supported by a dedicated team of professionals committed to achieving the best outcomes for every child.

The Role

As the SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Lead teaching and learning within a specialist autism provision
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet individual needs
  • Use autism-specific strategies to support learning, communication and social development
  • Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP targets and reviews
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, families and external agencies
  • Create a positive, structured and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has proven experience teaching pupils with SEND, particularly Autism
  • Demonstrates excellent classroom management and behaviour support strategies
  • Has a strong understanding of autism-friendly teaching approaches
  • Is confident leading a small specialist class and managing support staff
  • Is passionate about improving outcomes for children with additional needs
