Our client school in Canterbury is looking for a dedicated SEN Teacher to join their specialist team. The school supports children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs) and provides a structured, nurturing environment designed to help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is confident building positive relationships with pupils and understands the importance of adapting their approach to meet individual needs. You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons, whilst working closely with support staff to ensure pupils receive the right level of academic and pastoral support.
The Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons.
- Adapt your teaching to meet a range of SEMH and individual learning needs.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.
- Manage behaviour confidently using positive and consistent strategies.
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute towards individual learning plans.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants and the wider school team.
About You
The successful SEN Teacher must hold QTS and have a genuine passion for working with children and young people with additional needs.
The school would ideally suit a SEN teacher who is:
- Experienced working with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
- Patient, resilient and confident in managing complex situations.
- Able to build strong relationships with pupils who may have experienced barriers to education.
- Adaptable and willing to take a personalised approach to teaching.
- Passionate about helping pupils develop both academically and personally.
Previous SEN/SEMH experience is highly desirable, but teachers with mainstream experience who are looking to move into specialist education are also encouraged to apply.
