Bright Star Talent are currently recruiting for an experienced and passionate SEN Teacher to join a well-established specialist school in Erdington.

We have worked closely with this setting for a number of years and have built a strong relationship with the school and its team. We understand the environment, the pupils and the type of staff who work well within the setting.

About the School

The school is a specialist SEND setting supporting secondary and post-16 pupils with a range of additional needs, with autism being a primary area of need.

Pupils have individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and teaching is highly personalised to meet individual learning, communication and developmental needs.

The school places a strong focus on academic progress alongside communication, emotional regulation, independence, life skills and preparation for adulthood.

The Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons
  • Adapting teaching to meet individual EHCP targets and learning needs
  • Creating a structured, safe and positive classroom environment
  • Supporting pupils with autism and additional complex needs
  • Monitoring and assessing pupil progress
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants and other professionals
  • Promoting positive behaviour, communication and independence
  • Building strong and consistent relationships with pupils

The Ideal Candidate

  • QTS, QTLS or a relevant teaching qualification
  • Previous experience working within SEND
  • Experience supporting pupils with autism is highly desirable
  • Confident differentiating lessons for a range of abilities
  • Patient, resilient and nurturing approach
  • Passionate about supporting young people with additional needs
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service is required
