SEN Teacher – Autism ARP

Education First is recruiting an experienced SEN Teacher to join a primary school in Barking & Dagenham, working within the school's Autism ARP (Additionally Resourced Provision).

This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher with strong SEN experience who is passionate about supporting pupils with autism and additional needs.

The successful candidate will need experience working with KS1 and/or KS2 pupils and will be expected to take on full class teacher responsibilities within the ARP.

The Role

As an SEN Teacher within the Autism ARP, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons appropriate to pupils' individual needs

  • Take full responsibility for the class and day-to-day teaching

  • Teach pupils across KS1 and KS2

  • Support pupils with Autism / ASC and associated additional needs

  • Differentiate the curriculum to meet individual learning needs

  • Create a structured, safe and inclusive learning environment

  • Develop positive relationships with pupils and promote independence

  • Manage behaviour using appropriate and consistent strategies

  • Monitor, assess and record pupil progress

  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants and support staff

  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO and wider school team

What We're Looking For

The school is looking for a teacher who has:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification

  • Essential experience working with pupils with SEN

  • Experience working with KS1 and KS2 pupils

  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism / ASC

  • Experience working within an ARP, specialist provision or SEN setting is desirable

  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills

  • The ability to plan and deliver differentiated lessons

  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
