Actual Salary: £44184 - £62468 based on experience
A Special Needs Teacher/Literacy Lead is needed for this specialist setting in Hillingdon supporting children and young people aged 7–19 with a wide range of additional needs. We are seeking an experienced SEN Teacher with a passion for literacy to take on a combined teaching and Literacy Lead role from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys shaping curriculum, driving whole‑school practice and delivering high‑quality, personalised learning.
The Role
In this dual role, you will:
As SEN Teacher
- Deliver engaging, individualised learning for pupils with diverse communication, sensory and cognitive needs
- Create a calm, structured and supportive classroom environment
- Work closely with therapists and support staff to embed consistent strategies
- Use a range of communication approaches, including visual supports and AAC
- Build strong relationships with families and contribute to EHCP reviews
- Support pupils’ personal development, emotional wellbeing and independence
As Literacy Lead
- Champion literacy across the school, ensuring it is embedded in daily practice
- Support colleagues with planning, resources and targeted interventions
- Lead on assessment, tracking and progress in reading, writing and communication
- Model high‑quality literacy teaching and provide coaching where needed
- Contribute to curriculum development and whole‑school improvement priorities
About You
We would love to hear from you if you:
- Hold QTS and have strong experience teaching pupils with SEND
- Have a secure understanding of literacy development, including for pupils with complex needs
- Use positive behaviour approaches and maintain high expectations
- Enjoy leading others, sharing practice and supporting whole‑school improvement
- Are reflective, resilient and passionate about inclusive education
