Primary SEN Teacher – Specialist Autism Setting
Location: Colchester, Essex
Salary: M1 - M6 + SEN Allowance (dependent on experience)
Hours: Full-time, term time only (39 weeks plus training days)
Start Date: September 2026

About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Primary SEN Teacher to join a specialist school supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference, working in a nurturing environment with small class sizes and a strong focus on personalised learning. You will support pupils academically, socially, and emotionally, helping them build confidence, independence, and essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality teaching in line with Teachers’ Standards
Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
Support pupils with autism, SEMH needs, and learning difficulties
Develop pupils’ communication, social, and emotional skills
Create a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
Manage behaviour using positive strategies
Monitor progress using SEN frameworks such as P Levels and the National Curriculum
Support pupils during breaktimes and transitions
Build strong relationships with families and carers

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience in a primary or SEN setting
Strong knowledge of autism and special educational needs
Experience supporting pupils with learning disabilities or SEMH
Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning
Confident behaviour management skills
Full UK driving licence (essential)
