Reeson Education is proud to be partnering with a specialist secondary setting in the FY8 area to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher for a full-time, long-term position starting in September 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEN Teacher to join a highly supportive specialist setting that caters for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated additional needs. Although the pupils are secondary-aged, the successful SEN Teacher will primarily be delivering learning at a KS2 level, adapting the curriculum to meet individual learning needs and EHCP outcomes.
The school is seeking a nurturing and adaptable SEN Teacher who can create a calm, structured and engaging learning environment where pupils feel safe, understood and able to thrive both academically and personally.
SEN Teacher - The Role
As a SEN Teacher, you will:
Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupil needs
Deliver a broad and balanced curriculum at KS2 level
Adapt teaching strategies to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition and associated needs
Create a structured, nurturing and supportive classroom environment
Use visual supports, communication strategies and sensory approaches to maximise engagement
Monitor progress and use assessment effectively to inform planning
Support communication, emotional regulation, independence and confidence
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and pastoral teams
Contribute to EHCP reviews, target setting and pupil progress meetings
Maintain high expectations for learning, behaviour and personal development
Ensure safeguarding and pupil wellbeing remain at the centre of your practice
SEN Teacher - Requirements
The successful SEN Teacher will have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - Essential
Experience teaching KS2 pupils
Previous experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Experience within a SEND, SEMH or specialist provision setting
Strong understanding of adaptive teaching and differentiated learning
Knowledge of EHCPs and outcomes-based provision
Excellent classroom management and behaviour support skills
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and staff
A calm, patient and resilient approach
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
SEN Teacher - Desirable Experience
Experience working with non-verbal pupils
Additional SEND or autism-specific training
Experience working alongside therapists and multidisciplinary teams
Experience within specialist autism or SEND provisions
Knowledge of sensory regulation strategies and communication support systems
