A fantastic, inclusive Primary School in Chelmsford is searching for an SEN Teaching Assistant - Aspiring Creative Therapist to join their specialist ASD Provision from September 2026. This is the perfect opportunity for graduates considering careers in Educational Psychology, Music Therapy, Dance Movement Psychotherapy, Drama Therapy, Art Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Child Mental Health.
This SEN Teaching Assistant role will see you working within the school's dedicated Autism Provision, supporting pupils with a range of communication, sensory and emotional regulation needs. Through structured routines, creative activities and positive relationships, you will help pupils develop confidence, independence and the skills needed to access learning successfully.
Working alongside experienced SEN Teachers, specialist support staff and external professionals, you will gain invaluable hands-on experience within a highly supportive environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys thinking creatively, is patient and resilient, and wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of children with additional needs.

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Supporting pupils within a specialist Autism Provision
- Working with children with communication, sensory and emotional regulation needs
- Using creative, engaging and child-centred approaches to support learning and development
- Delivering 1:1 and small group interventions
- Supporting pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development
- Full-time, Term-Time Only
- September 2026 start
- Long-term & full academic year position
- £95-£105 per day
- Located in Chelmsford, Essex
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Must hold a 1st Class or 2:1 degree from a reputable university
- Strong academic background throughout education
- Graduates in Psychology, Music, Dance, Drama, Performing Arts, Art, Childhood Studies or similar subjects are encouraged to apply
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable, particularly within SEN, tutoring, coaching, youth work or creative settings
- Passionate about Autism, child development and inclusive education
- Creative, enthusiastic and emotionally intelligent personality
- Calm, resilient and confident supporting children with varying communication and behavioural needs
- Aspiring Educational Psychologist, Music Therapist, Dance Movement Psychotherapist, Drama Therapist, Art Therapist, Speech & Language Therapist or Teacher
