SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Maidstone, Kent
Job Type: Full-Time
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
Start Date: October 2026 or January 2027

We are currently seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive mainstream primary school in Maidstone, Kent. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the wider school team to provide high-quality support to pupils with a range of additional needs. You will help pupils access the curriculum, develop their confidence and independence, and make positive progress both academically and socially.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN

• Supporting children across KS1 and KS2

• Helping pupils access and engage with the curriculum

• Supporting children's social, emotional and behavioural development

• Implementing individual support strategies and learning plans

• Working closely with class teachers and SENCOs

• Promoting independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours

• Creating a safe, inclusive and encouraging learning environment

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience working with children with SEN

• Has experience supporting pupils across KS1 and KS2

• Has experience working within a mainstream primary school

• Is patient, caring and understanding

• Can build positive relationships with children and staff

• Is confident supporting children with a range of additional needs

• Is reliable, proactive and adaptable

• Has a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development

A fully enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

Applicants must either:

• Hold a fully enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or

• Be willing to apply for a new enhanced DBS check.
