Salary: £100-£115 per day

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Support Assistant or Learning Support Assistant who thrives when supporting young people with additional needs and challenging behaviour?

A specialist alternative provision school in Gorton, supporting a small community of just 40 secondary-aged students as part of a national academy trust, is searching for an engaging and proactive Teaching Assistant.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about SEND, behaviour support and helping young people overcome barriers to learning in a structured, supportive environment.

The Role - SEN & Behaviour Support

Working alongside teachers and the wider pastoral team, you will:

  • Provide 1:1, small-group and classroom support to secondary-aged pupils.
  • Support students with autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH and complex behavioural needs.
  • Build positive relationships, trust and engagement with pupils who may be reluctant to learn.
  • Support emotional regulation, independence and positive behaviour.
  • Use consistent de-escalation strategies and follow individual behaviour plans.
  • Adapt your approach to pupils' communication, sensory and learning needs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and challenging behaviour.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach, with confidence managing challenging situations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with secondary-aged students.
  • A consistent, positive attitude and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes.
  • Team Teach Level 2 or equivalent positive handling training is highly desirable.
  • Previous alternative provision or specialist school experience is advantageous.
  • A Level 3 qualification in education, childcare, psychology or a related subject is desirable.
