Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are available for candidates with extensive SEN experience and relevant training. Pay is determined in line with Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.
Teach Now is looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder within a supportive primary school in Greenwich. This long-term opportunity is ideal for someone who understands the importance of routine, communication, patience and personalised support.

Staff work closely together to create structured learning environments where pupils with additional needs are supported to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
The Role
You will support pupils with ASD across KS1 and KS2, both in the classroom and through targeted interventions. The role may involve one-to-one support, small-group work, visual resources, communication strategies and helping pupils manage transitions throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
• Support pupils with ASD in class, during interventions and around the school.
• Help deliver adapted learning activities under the direction of the class teacher.
• Use visual timetables, communication aids and structured routines where appropriate.
• Encourage social communication, confidence and independence.
• Support emotional regulation and sensory needs in a calm and consistent way.
• Work closely with the SENCO, class teachers and parents/carers where needed.
• Record observations and contribute to pupil progress updates.
Requirements
• Experience supporting children with ASD or other special educational needs.
• Experience within a primary school, SEN setting, nursery, care setting or similar environment.
• Understanding of autism-friendly strategies, including routines, visuals and communication support.
• Patient, observant and positive approach to supporting children.
• Relevant qualifications are desirable, such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, childcare, SEND training or a relevant degree.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
