Aspire People are currently recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic specialist school in Shrewsbury, supporting children and young people from EYFS through to Key Stage 5.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is nurturing, adaptable and passionate about supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs. No two days are the same, so the ability to be flexible and respond to individual pupils' needs is essential.
π The Role
Supporting children and young people across EYFS to Key Stage 5
Working within a specialist SEN school setting
Supporting pupils with a wide range of learning, developmental and additional needs
Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required
Supporting pupils with their academic, social, emotional and personal development
Adapting your approach to suit different ages, abilities and individual needs
Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs
Helping pupils develop their communication, confidence, independence and life skills
Supporting with sensory activities and regulation where appropriate
Utilising specialist areas, sensory spaces and safe spaces
Personal care may be included as part of the role, depending on the individual needs of pupils
Working closely with teachers, support staff and the wider SEN team
Building strong, trusting and positive relationships with pupils
Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive
π About You
Ideally, you will have:
A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching & Learning / Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
Experience within a specialist SEN school, specialist provision or similar setting would be highly beneficial
Experience supporting pupils across different age groups would be advantageous
Experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex additional needs
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
A flexible and adaptable approach to working with different pupils and age groups
A patient, calm, empathetic and nurturing nature
The confidence to support with personal care if required
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
No formal qualification? No problem! Strong and relevant experience working with children or young people with SEN will also be considered.
