Are you a passionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity within a mainstream primary school?

Aspire People are currently recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic mainstream school in Shrewsbury on a full-time, long-term basis, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is nurturing, patient and committed to supporting children with a range of additional needs to feel safe, included and able to achieve their full potential.

🌟 The Role

Supporting children with a range of SEN needs within a mainstream school setting
Working with pupils across various age groups
Supporting children with needs including ADHD, Autism and SEMH
Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required
Supporting pupils within the classroom and during targeted interventions
Utilising a dedicated SEN hub or safe space to provide additional support when needed
Helping children regulate their emotions and manage behaviour positively
Supporting pupils to develop their confidence, independence and social skills
Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team to support individual needs
Helping to create a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and helping them feel safe and supported

Ideally, you will have:

A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching & Learning / Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
Experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or similar additional needs
Experience working within a primary or mainstream school setting
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
A patient, calm, empathetic and nurturing approach
The ability to support children with emotional regulation and challenging behaviour
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
No formal qualification? No problem! Strong and relevant experience working with children with SEN will also be considered.
