Balfor Recruitment is currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist educational setting in Rochdale.
This is an exciting opportunity to support children and young people aged between 7 and 18 who have a range of additional needs, including:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
Behavioural and learning difficulties
The successful candidate will play an essential role in creating a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils within the classroom and during other school activities.
- Delivering one-to-one and small-group interventions.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Supporting pupils with social, emotional and communication development.
- Working closely with teachers to adapt learning activities and resources.
- Assisting pupils in developing confidence, resilience and independence.
- Preparing learning materials and creating engaging activities.
- Implementing personalised support plans and behaviour strategies.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for candidates who:
- Have experience supporting children with SEND or behavioural needs.
- Possess strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Can remain calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations.
- Have a good understanding of behaviour management strategies.
- Are passionate about making a difference in children's lives.
- Can work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
Essential Requirements
- GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C or above) or an equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs in a UK educational setting.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.
- A willingness to undertake additional training and professional development.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.
- Recent references covering previous employment.
