The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with students aged 11–16 who require additional support to engage with education and develop positive relationships.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing one-to-one and small group support throughout the school day.
• Supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated behavioural challenges.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress.
• Assisting teachers in delivering personalised learning activities.
• Using positive behaviour management strategies to support emotional regulation.
• Promoting pupils' confidence, independence, and resilience.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to support individual education plans.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, youth work, sports coaching, residential care, or support work.
• Is calm, patient, resilient, and confident managing challenging behaviour.
• Can build strong, professional relationships with pupils who require consistency and encouragement.
• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Is passionate about improving outcomes for young people with additional needs.
• Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or is willing to obtain one.
• Has the right to work in the UK.

Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ADHD, Autism (ASC), or behavioural needs is desirable but not essential.
