SEN Teaching Assistant - Kirklees & Calderdale

We are currently recruiting for compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistants to work in a range of primary schools and specialist provisions across Kirklees and Calderdale. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children who require additional support within their educational journey.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of additional needs, including:

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
ADHD
Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)

You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities
Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN.
Supporting the delivery of tailored learning activities and interventions.
Encouraging pupil engagement, independence, and social development.
Assisting with behavioural and emotional support where required.
Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
Supporting the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
Requirements
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable.
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, resilient, and caring nature.
Ability to adapt to the individual needs of pupils.
Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or SEN support are advantageous but not essential.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
