Pay: £90.00 - £95.00 a day
Hours: 08:30-15:30, Monday-Friday, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at our specialist secondary school for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

The school provides a nurturing, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment for young people aged 11–19 with a range of additional needs, including autism, moderate to severe learning difficulties, communication and interaction needs, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. They are passionate about helping every student develop the confidence, independence, and skills they need to achieve their full potential.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support students both in the classroom and during wider school activities. Every day is different, and you will play a vital role in helping our students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students with their individual learning programmes.
  • Assisting with communication, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Helping to create an engaging, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Working one-to-one and with small groups of students.
  • Promoting students' independence, confidence, and wellbeing.
  • Supporting personal care where required (training will be provided if necessary).
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families, and other professionals.

  • Has a genuine passion for supporting young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • Is patient, resilient, caring, and adaptable.
  • Can build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is able to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential).
  • Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience (desirable).
