About the Role
We are seeking a committed and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to support students aged 11-18 with a range of additional needs. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to deliver targeted support, promote inclusive learning, and help students achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support students with SEND in developing literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
- Assist in monitoring, recording, and reporting on student progress
- Provide clear feedback to students to support their learning and development
- Support the delivery of one-to-one and small group interventions
- Contribute to the preparation and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Support preparation of classroom resources and organisation
- Record and track student progress using school data systems
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and contribute to wider school life
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, ideally in a secondary setting
- Strong understanding of inclusive practice and supporting additional needs (e.g. SEMH, ASD, learning difficulties)
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A proactive, flexible, and team-oriented approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant
- Experience delivering interventions or supporting small groups
- A calm and consistent approach to behaviour management
- Confidence working in a fast-paced secondary school environment
- Good ICT skills and the ability to support learning using technology
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed
