About the Role:
Seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join the ASD Unit within a thriving mainstream secondary school. The role involves supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) across KS3 to KS5.

We're looking for a compassionate and proactive candidate to:

  • Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) across KS3 to KS5
  • Deliver targeted one-to-one and small-group interventions focused on communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and academic engagement
  • Support the implementation of EHCP targets, individual support plans, and communication strategies
  • Use structured approaches, visual supports, and personalised strategies to meet individual learning needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour and support students in managing transitions throughout the school day

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with Autism and/or Speech and Language needs (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • An understanding of Autism and the potential barriers students may face within a mainstream secondary setting
  • Knowledge of strategies that support communication, sensory regulation, and social development
  • The ability to adapt support to meet a range of learning, behavioural, and emotional needs
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their full potential
