About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team. This role involves working closely with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning opportunities and achieve their full potential in a safe, nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Provide tailored support for pupils with SEN, including those with complex needs.
  • Assist with personal care tasks, including toileting, changing, feeding, and hygiene support where required.
  • Use manual handling techniques safely when supporting pupils with physical needs.
  • Contribute to the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Requirements

Essential

  • A degree-level qualification.
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Manual Handling Training (or willingness to complete training before/upon starting).
  • Willingness and ability to provide personal care support as required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to supporting learners.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs.
  • Team Teach, Positive Behaviour Support, or similar behavioural management training.
  • First Aid qualification.
