SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH & ADHD)

Salary: £92.56 – £105 per day
Contract: Full-time, temporary, long-term

Phase: Primary – KS1/KS2
Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are available for candidates with extensive SEN experience and relevant training. Pay is determined in line with Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

Teach Now is seeking a committed and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH and ADHD in a welcoming primary setting in Greenwich. The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted support to pupils across KS1 and KS2, helping them engage positively with learning, routines and social interactions. You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and wider support staff to deliver tailored strategies that promote emotional regulation, confidence and progress.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEMH and ADHD.
• Help pupils access learning through adapted activities and structured support.
• Support positive behaviour strategies in line with individual support plans.
• Encourage emotional regulation, independence and positive relationships.
• Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals where required.
• Monitor pupil progress and contribute to feedback, observations and review meetings.
• Create a safe, consistent and encouraging learning environment.

Requirements
• Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, ADHD or additional needs.
• Experience in a primary school or similar child-focused setting.
• A strong understanding of behaviour support and de-escalation strategies.
• A calm, reliable and flexible approach.
• Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Relevant qualifications are desirable, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, childcare qualification, psychology degree or related training.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
