SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH

Location: Barnet, London
Salary: £90–£100 per day, dependent on experience and qualifications
Contract: Full-time, Temporary
Start: September 2026 – immediate/as soon as possible

Teach Now is looking for a resilient and relationship-focused SEN Teaching Assistant to support primary pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in Barnet.

This role requires more than simply supporting academic work. You will help pupils regulate emotions, rebuild confidence in learning and develop positive relationships with adults and peers.

For the right candidate, it can be an exceptionally rewarding position.

Responsibilities
  • Provide consistent 1:1 and small-group support.
  • Help pupils regulate emotions and manage challenging situations.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement with learning.
  • Support pupils during lessons, transitions and less structured periods.
  • Follow behaviour and individual support plans.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the SEN team.
We are looking for
  • Previous SEMH, behaviour, SEN or school-based experience.
  • A calm and confident approach to challenging behaviour.
  • Strong boundaries combined with patience and empathy.
  • Relevant TA/SEN qualifications are desirable.
  • Team Teach or similar training would be advantageous but is not essential.
