SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH – Sutton

Location: Sutton, South London
Salary: £90–£100 per day
Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary
Start Date: 8 September 2026

Transparency Education is looking for a confident SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs in Sutton.

The successful candidate will play an important role in helping children engage positively with education, particularly where emotional regulation, confidence or behaviour may create barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

You will:

Build safe and consistent relationships with pupils.
Provide individual and small-group support.
Encourage engagement with classroom learning.
Reinforce positive behaviour strategies.
Help pupils recognise and regulate emotions.
Respond calmly to moments of heightened behaviour.
Work alongside teaching, SEN and pastoral staff.
Promote independence, resilience and positive choices.
What we need from you

Previous SEMH, behavioural or SEND experience is highly desirable.

You will need to demonstrate:

Strong interpersonal skills.
Calmness under pressure.
Consistent boundaries.
Patience and resilience.
An understanding of safeguarding.
A genuine desire to improve outcomes for vulnerable pupils.

Candidates with experience in schools, youth support, mentoring or similar child-focused environments may be suitable.
