SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support (KS2) – Abbots Langley

Salary: £85 - £110 per day
Supply Desk are recruiting a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Abbots Langley. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), helping them to access learning, build confidence and achieve their individual goals within a supportive and inclusive school environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to provide consistent, personalised support throughout the school day. You will play a key role in helping the pupil engage with learning, develop positive relationships, regulate their emotions and build independence, while adapting your approach to meet their individual needs.
This position would suit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, a recent graduate considering a career in education, or someone with transferable skills and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
What You'll Do:
- Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
- Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the pupil's individual needs and learning style.
- Support the pupil with communication, emotional regulation and engagement throughout the school day.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement strategies and support individual learning targets.
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interactions both inside and outside the classroom.
- Promote positive behaviour and help create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting.
- Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or other additional needs is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, supportive and enthusiastic approach to working with students.
