Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role supporting a child with complex needs?
Teach Now is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Key Stage 2 pupil at a highly regarded, Outstanding-rated primary school in Barnet.
The pupil, currently in Year 2 and moving into Year 3, has diagnoses of ASD and PDA. While academically capable, they are currently disengaged from learning and require significant emotional and behavioural support. This role is focused on building trust, supporting emotional regulation, and helping the child feel safe and engaged in school.
The Role
• Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD and PDA
• Build a strong, positive relationship to encourage engagement
• Support emotional regulation and behaviour management
• Help maintain a safe and calm learning environment
• Work closely with the SENCO, teachers and external professionals
• Prioritise wellbeing and behaviour support over academic intervention
Requirements
• Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant
• Strong knowledge of ASD, PDA, SEMH and challenging behaviour
• Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• Calm, resilient and consistent approach
• Experience supporting pupils with high-needs SEN is essential
• Specialist SEN or alternative provision experience is highly desirable

Due to the complexity of this role, we are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a proven ability to support pupils with ASD, PDA and complex behavioural needs.
