Working Pattern: Thursdays and Fridays
Salary: £16–£19 per hour
Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

Teach Now is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (Autism Specialist) to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Camden. This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 support for a Key Stage 1 pupil with Autism, helping them access learning, develop independence, and thrive both socially and emotionally.

The school is seeking a confident Autism specialist who can build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil while supporting their emotional regulation, engagement and daily routines. This position is available on Thursdays and Fridays each week and would suit an experienced SEN professional looking to make a meaningful impact.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with Autism
• Support emotional regulation and positive engagement throughout the school day
• Use structured strategies to manage fixation behaviours and transitions
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
• Encourage communication, social interaction and independence
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider support team
• Contribute to observations and pupil progress reviews

Requirements
• Proven experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
• Strong understanding of sensory needs, routines and emotional regulation
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
• Patient, resilient and nurturing approach
• Ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations

Desirable Experience
• PECS, Makaton or Attention Autism training
• Team Teach or Positive Behaviour Support training
• Experience supporting pupils with fixation behaviours or obsessive interests
• Previous primary school SEN experience
