Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a strong background supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? Are you passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential?

Teach Now is recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil on a 1:1 basis in a friendly and inclusive primary school in Harrow. This is a long-term, full-time opportunity for someone who thrives on building positive relationships and making a meaningful impact every day.

The Role

As the pupils dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored academic and emotional support throughout the school day. Although the pupil is in Year 5, she is currently working at approximately a Year 1/2 level, so youll adapt learning activities, simplify tasks and deliver personalised support that builds confidence, independence and engagement.

Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, youll play a key role in creating an inclusive learning environment where the pupil can succeed alongside her peers.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
• Differentiate learning activities to meet the pupils individual needs and learning level.
• Support communication, social interaction and emotional wellbeing.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school staff.
• Monitor progress and contribute to personalised learning strategies.
• Promote an inclusive classroom environment where every child can thrive.

Requirements
• Previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
• Essential: Strong experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
• Good understanding of adapting learning for pupils working below age-related expectations.
• Patient, calm and nurturing, with excellent behaviour management skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
