Salary: £95–£101 per day

Salary depends on experience and qualifications. Higher rates apply to candidates with substantial relevant experience and/or training, such as a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).

About the Role

Help pupils build confidence, independence and a sense of belonging as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant at a school in Redbridge. You will work alongside teachers to make lessons accessible and support children with additional needs to participate in everyday classroom life.

Through individual and small-group support, you will explain tasks clearly, adapt activities and reinforce consistent routines. Following agreed support plans, you will notice what helps pupils engage and share observations with teachers to guide their next steps.

This permanent Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant role offers the continuity to build trusting relationships and see pupils progress over time. Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with additional needs in a school or comparable setting.
  • Understanding of how to support learning, inclusion and pupil independence.
  • Working knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities in education.
  • Clear spoken and written communication with pupils and colleagues.
  • Right to work in the UK and suitable references.
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check and relevant safeguarding checks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help pupils access learning through clear explanations and practical adjustments.
  • Work with teachers to prepare accessible activities and follow support plans.
  • Provide individual and small-group support tailored to pupils needs.
  • Encourage confidence, independence and positive classroom relationships.
  • Share observations to inform assessments of progress and next steps.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures in all aspects of your work.
