Full Time | Starting September 2026

Do you have a calm, patient approach and a passion for helping children reach their full potential?

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with one of our lovely junior schools in Christchurch to recruit a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil on a full-time basis from September 2026.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships and making a real difference to a child's confidence, wellbeing and learning. You'll become an important part of the school community, working closely with the class teacher and SEND team to provide consistent, tailored support throughout the school day.

Every day will be different, but your role will centre around helping one child feel safe, supported and able to engage successfully in school life.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Has previous experience working 1:1 with children, ideally within a primary school setting.
  • Has a calm, patient and nurturing manner.
  • Is confident supporting children with additional learning or emotional needs.
  • Can build trusting, positive relationships with children, staff and families.
  • Is adaptable, resilient and able to respond to the individual needs of the child.
  • Is committed to helping every child succeed both academically and personally.
The role will include:
  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 4 pupil throughout the school day.
  • Encouraging independence while offering the right level of support.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement personalised strategies.
  • Supporting the child's learning, social development and emotional wellbeing.
  • Helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Recording observations and communicating progress with the wider school team where appropriate.
In return, you'll receive:
  • A welcoming and supportive school environment.
  • Ongoing support from your dedicated Teaching Personnel consultant.
  • Opportunities for professional development and training.
  • A fulfilling role where you can make a genuine difference in a child's education and confidence.
  • Competitive daily pay, paid weekly.

If you're an experienced Teaching Assistant who thrives in a 1:1 role and understands the importance of patience, consistency and encouragement, we'd love to hear from you.
