Teaching Personnel
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a SEN School to recruit dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistants to join their specialist team.
The School is a nurturing specialist provision for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), whose primary need is Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). Many pupils also have additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties and communication needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children who may have faced barriers to learning and who want to help pupils build confidence, resilience and positive relationships.
The RoleAs a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff to help pupils access learning, regulate their emotions and achieve their individual goals.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Delivering learning activities tailored to individual needs.
- Supporting pupils with communication, emotional regulation and social interaction.
- Building positive and trusting relationships with children.
- Encouraging independence, resilience and engagement in learning.
- Supporting behaviour through a relational and trauma-informed approach.
- Working alongside Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and teaching staff.
- Contributing to a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
We're keen to hear from candidates who have experience in any of the following:
- SEN or SEMH schools.
- Mainstream primary education.
- Autism, ADHD or speech and language support.
- Behaviour mentoring or pastoral support.
- Care, youth work or support work settings.
- Working with vulnerable children and young people.
Successful candidates will be:

- Passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Strong team players with excellent communication skills.
- CACHE/NVQ Supporting Teaching and Learning.
- Previous Teaching Assistant experience.
- SEND, SEMH or behaviour support experience.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches.
- Experience supporting pupils with autism or communication needs.
- Supportive and welcoming staff team.
