Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Towcester to recruit an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time, permanent position starting in September 2026.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Working closely with teachers, the SENDCo, and the wider support team, you will help deliver personalised support that enables pupils to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND

  • Work alongside class teachers and the SENDCo to implement personalised learning plans and interventions

  • Support pupils with a range of learning, communication, social, emotional, and behavioural needs

  • Adapt classroom activities and learning resources to meet individual requirements

  • Encourage independence, resilience, and active participation in learning

  • Foster positive behaviour and support pupils' emotional wellbeing

  • Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress, providing regular feedback to teaching staff

  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and external agencies where appropriate

  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

  • Support the wider school ethos by promoting inclusion and equal opportunities for all pupils



About You

  • Experience supporting children with SEND within a school or similar educational setting

  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to working with children

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils

  • Confidence working both independently and as part of a collaborative team

  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

  • Teaching Assistant or SEND-related qualifications are beneficial but not essential
