SEN Teaching Assistant – Brent

Location: Brent, North West London

Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Brent. The school is committed to ensuring that every pupil receives the support they need to thrive both academically and personally. With a strong focus on inclusion, wellbeing, and individual development, the school provides a nurturing environment where staff and pupils are encouraged to reach their full potential.

This role is ideal for someone with experience supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.

The Role:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of additional needs within the classroom
  • Work on a 1:1 basis and with small groups to support learning and development
  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in school life
  • Support the implementation of individual learning plans and EHCP targets
  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and independence
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning needs
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents to ensure consistent support

What the School is Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN is essential
  • Experience working with pupils with:
    • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
    • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
    • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
    • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
    • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
    • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach
  • Confidence supporting pupils with varying levels of need and ability
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
