About the Role

A specialist SEN school in Greenford is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children and young people with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning, build confidence, and develop essential life skills in a nurturing environment.

The school caters for pupils with Autism (ASC), Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), speech and language needs, and complex communication difficulties. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to provide tailored support throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
• Support pupils with learning, communication, emotional regulation, and social development
• Assist in implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
• Adapt activities to meet individual learning needs and abilities
• Use communication tools and sensory-based strategies to support pupil engagement
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
• Support pupils with personal care where required
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
• Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, caring, and resilient approach
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Right to Work in the UK

Desirable:

• Experience supporting pupils with ASC, MLD, SLD, PMLD, or speech and language needs
• Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, AAC, or sensory-based learning approaches
• Experience within a specialist SEN school, mainstream school, or care setting
• Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or health and social care
• Manual handling or Team Teach training
