SEN Teaching Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a leading specialist education provider in the South Wales. This role is ideal for professionals with a passion for supporting children with a range of special educational needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), pathway-specific diagnoses such as PDA, profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), global developmental delay, and challenging behaviour. The SEN Teaching Assistant in this position will play a vital role in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, supporting children with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and supervise learners with ASD, PDA, PMLD, Global Delay Disorder, or challenging behaviour
  • Assist learners at the start and end of the school day
  • Help teachers prepare classrooms for lessons and activities
  • Work with learners in small groups or on a 1:1 basis to meet individual needs
  • Support the delivery of lessons alongside class teachers
  • Support learners during break times and lunchtimes
  • Engage learners with classroom and outdoor activities
  • Follow the organisation’s behaviour management policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 months experience working with children in schools, nurseries, or childcare environments; prior SEN experience is highly beneficial
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) or willingness to support registration
  • Current Enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK
