SEN TUTOR

Location: Hounslow
Contract: 6-month initial contract, with potential for extension/permanent opportunity
Start: Immediate
Hours: 9am-5pm Monday to Friday

Remedy Tutors are currently recruiting an experienced and passionate SEN Tutor to join the Hounslow SEN Tuition Team, supporting children and young people to re-engage with education, develop their skills and achieve positive outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within Hounslow Council's Skills, Careers & Employment service, specifically within Young People's and Targeted Learning.

The role is initially offered on a 6-month temporary basis, with the potential for the successful candidate to either apply for a permanent position directly with the Local Authority or continue working through Remedy on a temporary basis.

As an SEN Tutor, you will be responsible for assessing, planning and delivering high-quality, flexible SEND education to learners across primary, secondary and/or post-16 age groups.

You will work closely with young people, families, schools, colleges and other professionals to understand individual needs, remove barriers to learning and support learners to make meaningful progress.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assessing individual learner needs and developing appropriate education and support plans
• Planning and delivering engaging, high-quality SEND learning programmes
• Adapting teaching, resources and approaches to meet diverse and complex individual needs
• Supporting learners who may experience barriers relating to engagement, attendance, learning, transition or reintegration
• Monitoring learner progress, achievement and key performance indicators, taking appropriate action where required
• Contributing to reviews, meetings and multi-agency support planning
• Working collaboratively with families, schools, colleges, professionals and partner services
• Supporting learners to develop confidence, independence and the skills required for successful progression
• Contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement within your area of practice
• Supporting positive progression into further education, employment, training or greater independence
• Embedding safeguarding, equality, inclusion and learner wellbeing throughout your practice
• Building positive and constructive relationships with colleagues across different teams and services

Essential:

• PGCE, QTS, Level 6 Diploma in Education and Training (DET), or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
• Experience of teaching children or young people with SEND
• Good working knowledge of SEND teaching approaches across primary, mainstream and/or alternative education settings
• Experience of adapting curriculum content and teaching approaches to meet individual learner needs
• Understanding of the barriers that can affect engagement, attendance, learning, transition and reintegration
• Experience of building effective relationships with children, young people and families
• Experience of working collaboratively with schools, education providers, families and other professionals
• Experience of contributing to reviews, meetings and multi-agency support.
• Ability to plan and deliver high-quality, individualised SEND education
• Ability to monitor learner progress and identify appropriate interventions to improve outcomes
• Understanding of learner achievement, performance measures and positive progression
• Ability to work collaboratively while also managing your own workload effectively
