Are you a Qualified Teacher (QTS) with experience supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for passionate SEN Tutors and experienced QTS Teachers to provide one-to-one tuition across Canterbury and the surrounding areas.
💷 £27 Per Hour + Paid Planning Time
For every 5 hours of tuition delivered, you'll receive an additional hour's pay for planning and preparation.
Most assignments are around 10 hours of tuition per week, meaning you'll be paid for 12 hours in total to recognise the time spent planning and preparing tailored lessons.
You can work part-time or full-time, depending on your availability.
About the SEN Tutor Role
We are working with children and young people who are currently without a formal school placement and require personalised educational support.
Learners will have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and may have a range of additional needs, including autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, learning difficulties and other complex needs.
As an SEN Tutor, you'll provide individualised tuition designed around each learner's strengths, needs and EHCP outcomes.
Some assignments may involve supporting one learner consistently until they transition into a suitable full-time educational setting, while other opportunities may involve working with multiple pupils.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced SEN Teacher, QTS Teacher, Primary Teacher, Secondary Teacher, Intervention Teacher or SEN Tutor looking for a flexible and rewarding role.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality one-to-one SEN tuition tailored to individual learning needs.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons and targeted interventions.
- Adapt teaching strategies, resources and activities to meet individual needs.
- Support pupils' academic progress, confidence and personal development.
- Work towards relevant outcomes outlined in learners' EHCPs.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers and other professionals.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, attendance and learning outcomes.
- Provide consistent, nurturing support to learners who may have experienced challenges within mainstream education.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for tutors who have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
- A strong understanding of EHCPs and personalised intervention strategies.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach.
- The ability to build strong relationships with learners who may have experienced challenges within education.
- A genuine passion for helping children and young people achieve their potential.
