Are you an experienced teacher with a passion for SEND and a desire to help shape a brand-new specialist provision?

Spencer Clarke Group is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced SENCO to join a new therapeutic SEN secondary school in North Bradford, ahead of its opening in January 2027.

This is a unique opportunity to join the school at an early stage, starting at October half term, and play a key role in developing the school's SEND provision, systems and culture before pupils arrive.

The school will initially support around 20 pupils, providing a highly personalised and nurturing environment for young people with additional needs. Although the setting is a secondary school, some pupils will be working towards primary-level outcomes, so the ability to adapt teaching and provision to individual needs is essential.

Your Role:

As SENCO, you will work closely with the school's leadership team to establish and develop an outstanding SEND provision. You will have an important role in ensuring pupils' individual needs are identified, understood and effectively supported.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing the school's SEND provision
  • Supporting the implementation and review of EHCPs
  • Working closely with teachers, support staff and external professionals
  • Ensuring appropriate provision and interventions are in place for pupils
  • Supporting staff with differentiation and strategies to meet individual needs
  • Promoting high standards of inclusion, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
  • Helping to establish effective SEND systems and processes ahead of the school's opening

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
  • Strong teaching experience - essential
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND, ideally within a specialist or alternative provision setting
  • A strong understanding of SEND and individualised learning
  • NASENCO or NPQ SENCO qualification - desirable but not essential
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A flexible and creative approach to meeting individual pupil needs
  • A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people with SEND

Why Join This School?

  • Competitive salary of £48,000-£56,000, depending on experience
  • Opportunity to join a brand-new therapeutic SEN school
  • Be part of the founding team and help shape the provision from the outset
  • Small setting with an initial cohort of just 20 pupils
  • Opportunity to influence SEND systems, curriculum and school culture
  • Work within a highly personalised and supportive environment
  • Excellent opportunity for professional development and career progression

If you're an experienced teacher with a passion for SEND and would like the opportunity to help build something exceptional from the ground up, we'd love to hear from you.
