Send Ehcp Officer (Educational Needs Specialist)

We Do Social Work Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced SEND EHCP Officer to join a dedicated SEND team in Lancashire.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and who can confidently manage the EHCP process from assessment through to review.

You will work closely with children, young people, families, schools and professionals across education, health and care to ensure that EHCPs are person-centred, outcome-focused and reflect the individual needs, views and aspirations of each child or young person.

As a SEND EHCP Officer, you will manage an allocated caseload across a number of educational settings, taking responsibility for the end-to-end EHCP process.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing assessments, EHCP plan writing, reviews, reassessments and consultations.
• Producing high-quality, person-centred EHCPs that clearly identify needs, outcomes and required provision.
• Working directly with children, young people and families to ensure their views, wishes and aspirations are central to planning.
• Bringing together and analysing information from education, health, social care, families and other professionals.
• Reviewing and updating EHCPs to ensure they remain appropriate and responsive to changing needs.
• Attending person-centred planning and review meetings.
• Working closely with SENCOs and education settings to monitor provision and respond to emerging needs.
• Preparing accurate, evidence-based reports and case summaries.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records and documentation.
• Providing advice, guidance and support to families and partner professionals.
• Supporting mediation and other formal or informal dispute-resolution processes where required.
• Ensuring all statutory duties and casework are completed accurately and within required timescales.
• Contributing to service improvement and the development of effective SEND practice.

We are looking for someone who has a strong understanding of SEND and can confidently manage complex information, competing priorities and statutory deadlines.

You will ideally have:

• A professional or academic qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.
• GCSE Grade 5 or equivalent in English and Maths.
• Experience working with children, young people, families and/or members of the public.
• Experience of partnership or multi-agency working.
• Experience within the SEND sector is desirable.
• A good understanding of SEND legislation, statutory guidance and EHCP requirements.
• Knowledge of education, health and care services and how these work together to support children and young people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with families and professionals.
• Strong analytical and report-writing skills, with the ability to interpret information from a range of sources.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload effectively.
• The ability to work accurately under pressure and meet statutory deadlines.
• A flexible, solution-focused approach and a commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
• Confidence using digital systems for case management, monitoring and recording.

You will need to be comfortable dealing with complex and sometimes sensitive situations, while maintaining a professional and solution-focused approach.

Above all, you will be passionate about ensuring children and young people with SEND receive the right support to achieve positive outcomes and prepare for adulthood.

This is an essential car user role, and you will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of the post and have appropriate business-use insurance. In certain circumstances, consideration may be given to applicants who are unable to drive due to a disability.
