SEND Primary Teaching Assistant – Primary School in Watford

A welcoming and inclusive Primary School in Watford is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and helping them develop confidence, independence, and a love for learning.

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the wider support team to provide tailored support for pupils with SEND, helping them access the curriculum, overcome barriers to learning, and make progress both academically and personally.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional needs is essential

  • A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs

  • A commitment to supporting pupils’ learning, development, and wellbeing

  • Strong communication, patience, and teamwork skills

  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and understand their individual needs

  • A proactive and nurturing approach to supporting children in the classroom

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND, helping them engage with learning activities

  • Work alongside teachers and support staff to deliver personalised support strategies

  • Assist with the implementation of individual learning, behaviour, and development plans

  • Support pupils with their social, emotional, and academic development

  • Help maintain positive classroom routines and a structured learning environment

  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours

  • Promote an inclusive classroom where every child feels valued and supported
