SEND Support Worker - Specialist School | Wandsworth

Protocol Education is currently recruiting Healthcare Assistants to join a state-of-the-art specialist school in the London Borough of Wandsworth, supporting children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities.

This welcoming and inclusive school provides education and specialist care for pupils across Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Post-16. Students have varying levels of additional needs, including visual and hearing impairments, autism, physical disabilities and complex learning needs.

We are looking for caring, patient and dedicated individuals who are passionate about supporting young people and making a positive difference to their education, independence and personal development.

Whether you have previous experience in healthcare, education or supporting individuals with additional needs, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive specialist school.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work within small classes of approximately 6–8 pupils, providing individualised support to students with complex physical, sensory and learning needs.

Working alongside experienced teachers, therapists and support staff, you will help pupils access their education while promoting their confidence, communication and independence.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing one-to-one support to pupils with complex special educational needs.
• Supporting students with visual and hearing impairments, autism and physical disabilities.
• Following individual care plans to meet pupils' physical, emotional and developmental needs.
• Encouraging communication and social interaction through visual, tactile and sensory resources.
• Supporting sensory integration activities to develop pupils' awareness and engagement.
• Helping students develop cognitive skills, independence and everyday life skills.
• Assisting pupils during creative lessons, including music, art, dance and sensory activities.
• Supporting outdoor learning experiences, including activities in the school's sensory garden.
• Working closely with teaching and specialist care teams to provide a safe, positive and engaging learning environment.

• Full-time position, Monday to Friday.
• Year-long placement with the possibility of an extension.
• Opportunities to work across Early Years, Primary, Secondary or Post-16.
