SEND Teacher - Alternative Provision | Winsford | Temporary to Permanent

About the Role

If you are a Teacher who wants to make a genuine difference, this could be the opportunity for you.

This is far more than a Teacher position. It's an opportunity to help young people who may have struggled in mainstream education rediscover their confidence, their independence and, most importantly, their love of learning.

The Impact You'll Make

As a SEND Teacher, you will have the opportunity to make a genuine and lasting difference to young people with SEND and SEMH needs.

You will help learners:

  • Develop confidence and independence
  • Improve their Maths and Functional Skills
  • Build positive and trusting relationships
  • Develop emotional regulation and resilience
  • Re-engage with education and learning
  • Recognise and celebrate their own achievements

For some learners, success might be achieving a qualification. For others, it could be walking into a lesson, completing a task, building a positive relationship or believing in themselves again.

This is a Teacher role where relationships, patience, consistency and belief really matter.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and passionate SEND Teacher to join a welcoming Alternative Provision in Winsford on a temporary to permanent basis.

As a SEND Teacher, you will deliver engaging and accessible lessons to small groups of learners with a range of SEND and SEMH needs.

You will also teach Maths Functional Skills, helping students develop practical Maths skills that support both their academic progress and everyday lives.

You do not need previous experience as a SEND Teacher or in Alternative Provision. What matters most is your attitude, patience and genuine commitment to helping young people succeed.

The Teaching Role

As a SEND Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to small groups
  • Teach Maths Functional Skills, adapting learning to individual abilities and needs
  • Support learners working towards their Maths qualifications and Functional Skills
  • Plan and deliver lessons that promote engagement, confidence and independence
  • Adapt your teaching approach to meet a range of SEND and SEMH needs
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with learners
  • Support emotional regulation, behaviour and re-engagement with education
  • Work closely with colleagues and support staff to ensure every learner can make progress

The Setting

You will be working within a structured and highly supportive Alternative Provision, where every Teacher and member of staff plays a vital role in helping learners rediscover their love of learning, build confidence and realise their potential.

Students benefit from small-group teaching, clear routines and a calm, consistent environment designed to help them feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Lessons are carefully adapted to meet individual needs, with a strong focus on relationships, communication, emotional regulation and rebuilding confidence in learning.

You will be supported by an experienced team who understand the challenges and rewards of Alternative Provision, with guidance available every step of the way.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for a SEND Teacher who is:

  • QTS qualified - Primary or Secondary trained
  • ECT's encouraged also to apply.
  • Mainstream or SEND background.
  • Confident or willing to teach Maths Functional Skills
  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable learners
  • Calm, patient and adaptable
  • Able to build strong relationships with young people
  • Confident in adapting lessons to meet individual needs
  • Open to developing their SEND and Alternative Provision experience
  • Committed to helping every learner achieve their potential

Whether you are an experienced SEND Teacher, a Primary Teacher, a Secondary Teacher looking for a new challenge, or a Teacher taking your first step into Alternative Provision, this is a highly supportive environment where you will be guided to succeed.
