ANZUK Education is working with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Lewisham seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from an immediate start. This full-time position offers the opportunity to support pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them access learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential in a nurturing and supportive environment.

This SEND Teaching Assistant role in Lewisham would suit experienced Teaching Assistants or Learning Support Assistants with a strong background supporting children with additional needs in a primary school or specialist SEND setting. The school is looking for someone who is proactive, patient and passionate about making a real difference to children's lives.
Key Responsibilities of SEND Teaching Assistant:
Provide high-quality 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of SEND, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs and SEMH.
Support the class teacher in delivering differentiated learning activities that meet individual pupil needs.
Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual support plans.
Promote pupils' communication, independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing.
Support positive behaviour management strategies and encourage engagement in learning.
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCo and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have previous experience supporting children with SEND within a primary school or specialist setting (essential).
Have experience providing 1:1 support and adapting learning to meet individual needs.
Hold a relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent) or a degree.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of inclusive practice and effective SEND support strategies.
Be patient, resilient and adaptable, with excellent communication skills.
Maintain high expectations for pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
Show a clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Work effectively as part of a collaborative school team.
