Pay Rate: £95–£110 per day DOE

Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEND) needs? Do you have the patience, resilience and enthusiasm to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential?

Cover People are recruiting a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Wigan supporting pupils aged 11–19 with a range of additional needs. The school provides a highly personalised and nurturing learning environment where every learner is encouraged to develop academically, socially and emotionally, with a strong focus on preparing students for adulthood and independent living.

The Role:

• Support students with SEND and additional SEND needs in lessons and around the school.
• Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and confidence.
• Work alongside teachers to deliver personalised learning and intervention activities.
• Use positive behaviour management strategies to support emotional regulation.
• Encourage independence, resilience and personal development.
• Liaise with teaching staff and other professionals to meet pupils' individual needs.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
• Team Teach training is desirable but not essential.
